SEO Copywriting Career: “I’m Getting Laid Off, Is the SEO Writing Field Too Crowded to Enter” & Other Q’s from Readers

Questions, questions and more questions! Today, I received the following tweets and emails from readers of this blog and InkwellEditorial.com. A tweet said:

. . . gettin laid off in 2 weeks. It’s crunch time. but w/your [SEO and freelance writing] tips I’m not worried. Thnx 4 your value!

An email read:

Hello Yuwanda..I wanted to ask your opinion on the opportunities for SEO article writing in 2010. I am about to be laid off in my present job. I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I don’t want to buy an ebook on SEO writing if the market is saturated now…any thoughts on this?

And yet another reader emailed:

I really like your newsletter. How do you do it? I seem to keep fall into the trap of accepting low paying gigs from Craigslist and other sites just to pay the bills. I rarely have time to market my SEO writing because I have a ton of low-paying projects to complete. I feel overwhelmed and tired at times. How can I break free of low paying gigs and start getting paid $25+ per article?

Boy, you guys are keeping me busy answering questions, which I’m happy to do, especially questions/queries like these because they indicate what’s going on in society at large (eg, people losing jobs and freelance writers struggling to make decent wages).

I was going to fire off a quick newsletter today, but simply ran out of time. Being in Jamaica, my work days are much shorter because I like to get my run in on the beach before night falls.

Tomorrow though, I’ll answer each of these queries in detail, so stay tuned. And, I’ll tell you about an exciting contact I made here in Negril while working at a beachside cafe — suffice it to say that more work could be coming my SEO writing company’s way, which just goes to prove . . . marketing never stops, not even on the sunny, beachside cliffs in Jamaica!
