SEO Copywriters/Freelance Writers: How to Determine What to Pay Freelancers You Outsource To

Publisher Note: This is the third – and final – part of my answer to a fellow SEO writer who sent in a very long query about a week ago. Get caught up by reading Parts I [How to Find Reliable Freelancers to Outsource To (http://bit.ly/aLnkzT)] and II [How to Stop Freelancers You Outsource to from Stealing Your Clients (http://bit.ly/bNrqxP)].

The following is the third question.

QUESTION

I have placed a few craigslist ads in the past looking for some great people (I received an overwhelming response) so I do have some people I’d like to try. When you first went about hiring people to represent your hard work, did you draw up a contract with them? If so, what kind of issues do you feel is a MUST?

Publisher Note: I answered the above two questions in Part II (see the link to the Independent Contractor’s Agreement).

The last question I have is how to decide what kind of pay rate for the people I’d be outsourcing to? I can’t offer the moon & the stars right off the bat & I don’t want to lowball anyone.

MY ANSWER

Today, we’re going to discuss what to pay rate for SEO writers you hire should be.  I have to say, I hate to even dip my toe in these waters because freelance writing rates are all over the place and boy, it causes such debate every time the subject comes up, as the following links attest:
